A Cowboy Hides His Pain

They opened up that shoot
And that ole' cowboy
Has the worst ride of his life
As he's tossed around on that old bull
He hits the ground and breaks something inside
But he just picks himself up off the ground
The people cheer and call his name
He smiles and waves his hat
Cause this old cowboy's
Really good at hiding pain

While a cowboy earns his living on the road
His wife's home burning the fires
Hoping that he'll come home soon
She prays that this time love makes him retire
But restlessness deep in his soul
Is something that a woman's love can't tame
She cries as he heads down the road
But that old cowboys
Good at hiding all his pain

How long can their love survive
When he's not there to rekindle her flame
It's coming down when he must choose
Her love over that rodeo fame

But once again he's left her
And she swears, this time will be the last
She throws her suitcase in the car
With tear filled eyes she never glances back
He tries calling her again
When no one answers
He just bows his head in shame
He'll pick up his hat and carry on alone
The cowboy's good at hiding pain

He'll pick up his hat and carry on alone
The cowboy's good at hiding pain
