The Mouse and the Moon

"Excuse me moon" whispered the mouse
"I've got a question for you
They say you'll know, you'll help me out
I've only got a short time
To live a full life
But you'll always be there
And how is that fair?"

"It's me again" said the mouse to moon
"Can we talk like we're friends
They say when I die I'll live with you
And are you made of cheese
And if it's all I can eat
How can it be my favourite food
When there's nothing to compare it to?"

"I'm beginning to fear that you don't even care
Though they say you can hear
My heartbeat from way over there"
So he gave one final cry
And when it did not reply
The mouse began to realise
The moon is just a mirror in the sky
