What a Shame

Have you heard about that incident
that occurred the other day
In the news they pretend that it is taken care of
and help is on the way
Thousands dying and ten thousands crying
and there's still so much denying
We're just fighting and there's not much right
in our complacence or indifference
What a shame when human tragedies
are nothing more than news
What a shame when fiscal fraud
is punished worse than child abuse
What a shame when our fear
overrides our sense of justice
What a shame when our children
will not learn what just is
How can we teach them right from wrong
if we don't give a damn?
What will we tell them when they ask
