Overwhelmed (Psalm 88)

You're the God who saves me, I cry out day and night
May my prayer be worthy
Turn Your ear to hear my cry

Overwhelmed with troubles and my life draws near to death
My way leads me to Hell
I am weak and filled with dread

You put me in the darkest depths
Your wrath is overwhelming me
You took away my closest friends, made them hate me
Won't you set me free?
My eyes are dim with grief

Set apart with the dead like the slain ones in the grave
Will you remember them if they turned away from grace?

You put me in the darkest depths
Your wrath is overwhelming me
You took away my closest friends, made them hate me
Won't you set me free?
My eyes are dim with grief

Do the dead know Your wonders?
Do their spirits rise to praise You?
Does Your glory light up the dark?
Or Your mercy rain on desert hearts?
Is Your love declared in the grave?
Are You faithful in the tempest?
Were You there when I lost hope?
Can Your grace make me whole?

Make me whole...
When I cry out to You for help
My prayer falls not on deaf ears
My earthly troubles fade away
You are with me, whom shall I fear?
I know that You are here
