Three Kings

I'm on a summer drive to nowhere with an open road, a tank of gas
And a brand new unused lonely map that I won't open until I'm coming home

Along the road I see a man with an outstretched thumb and guitar in hand
And he looks a little bit like Elvis
I say "how you doing, do you need a ride?" He says "uh-thank ya very much that would be nice"
And so we start to drive
And he sings me a little "love me tender love me so", he asks me where I'm going and I say I don't know
He laughs that it's nice to get away from everything, and when we reach his stop he says
"Thank you boy, you are a king"

I'm on a summer drive to nowhere with an open road, a tank of gas
And a brand new unused lonely map that I won't open until I'm coming home

Further along I meet a group with funny accents picking fruits in a strawberry field
I pull on over, introduce myself, one says "my name's John and we could sure use help"
And already this is so much better than yesterday
He said "we're out here workin 8 days a week, but I feel fine with all these strawberries to eat"
I don't mind I don't have anywhere to be and he says "thank you boy, you are a king"

I'm on a summer drive to nowhere with an open road, a tank of gas
And a brand new unused lonely map that I won't open until I'm coming home

Well I'm almost on empty and about to head back
Until I see a man dressed all in black looking like he was going to a funeral
I pull on over and I offer him a lift to the next town and he says
"No thank you I'm waiting for the man to come around"
So I ask "hey can you please step out of the rain"
And he says "the rain don't hurt, it don't cause me any pain"
So I ask "hey stranger do you need anything" and he says "thank you boy, you are a king"

I'm on a summer drive to nowhere with an open road, a tank of gas
And a brand new unused lonely map that I won't open until I'm coming home
Well I'm coming home
