Cab Ride

On a grey and rainy Monday, she took a cab ride to heaven
In her hands, the only thing she brought was a jar filled with a lifetime of tears
He'd been waiting at the gate for 20 years, as she said, "hey driver, I didn't ask to come to hell"
His eyes exactly like the ones in her mirror, and up came a rising wave of shame

She said, "I took that cab for the sins of his hands
It's the only way to leave the past behind
He stripped away my innocence when I was just a girl
I'm here to change the course of time"

With the courage of a mountain, she opened the door to face her daddy
The tears from his eyes rained down upon the earth, and he kneeled on a cloud and bowed his head

He said, "You took that cab for the sins of my hand
It's the only thing I knew how to do
I tore apart your innocence and ripped apart your heart
Please let me make it right, I've waited so long to make it right

We'll be angels together, meddlin' from heaven
Lookin' out for daddy's and their girls
And let me be forgiven for the hell that you've been livin'
From here we can change the course of time

She took the jar of tears, threw it in his face and
Unleashed a calvary of rage
After all this time, she finally had the chance to take down the man she called her daddy
He didn't fight, he took in every stab til all that was left was an empty man
The tears released, the jar smashed to bits, she took his hand and she said

"I took that cab, but now here we stand, with a father any girl'd be proud to have
with hands held in innocence, they walked up to the gate
"We're here to make things right, We've waited so long to make things right

We'll be angels together, meddlin' from heaven
Lookin' out for daddy's and their girls
And let me be forgiven for the hell that you've been livin'
From here we can change the course of time
