Growing Free

When I was a little nervous kid
I dreamt so hard to be like this
My shyness, lord now I can see
It was my shield to keep me free

I had gained about a dozen inches
When I was taken down in sorceries
My mama said "oh son you have been jinxed"
I said "mama let me free"

Was being jostled by the wayward crowd
Finding my way out of their march
I freaked out when good vibes hit my eardrum
Oh I brought music to my side

Along with her I then found many more
People who know me to the core
Bros and sisters to this only child, oh
The love in my life

Now that I've just turned eighteen
I'm praying God so I can be
One of those folks whose memory will stay
I'll outlive, endless I will be

Growing free
