Stars

I met a boy one day with eyes a faded blue jean blue and I told the stars all about him
They cared less than the moon, they said that he'll be gone real soon
And like the stars there's more where he came from

I met a boy one day which shoes that skated avenues
My mom just shook her head and said, "I know that's how you like 'em"
This boy he tried to teach me, took my hand said, "girl, it's easy"
And skinned knees hurt less than broken hearts

Ooo don't say a bad word about him
Ooo he really is quite kind
Ooo it's not his fault I can't live without him
Ooo at least it feels that way this time

They say my name it is the sun, but I love someone else's son
I think my world revolves around him
No one is as lonely as the moon, it shines while other people snooze
But I feel pretty lonely right now
So don't defy the stars, they'll just take what once was ours

We ran into the night, still in my mind, but out of sights
And I'll blame fate for my mistakes if that's alright
But they wouldn't align for us, how dare they not align for us
I whisper "I love him" as tears run from my eyes

Ooo don't say a bad word about him
Ooo he really is quite kind
Ooo it's not his fault I can't live without him
Ooo at least it feels that way this time

They say my name it is the sun, but I love someone else's son
I think my world revolves around him
No one is as lonely as the moon, it shines while other people snooze
But I feel pretty lonely right now
So don't defy the stars, they'll just take what once was ours

I am a wild and a reckless child
And I defy you stars
