Beside Myself

I look around this concrete jungle
Don't think anything can grow today
But even though the sky is grey
And I know the hand I'm holding is strong
It's still hard when you don't know which way is up

I try to look there
Now I'm by myself
I try to look there
Now I'm beside myself
I try to look there
Beside myself

What is this "right" for me
I don't know where to look or why I even try
It stings to think I must wait
But I'll wait if it's right for me

At least I can still sleep at night
I take it, I'm gonna be alright
At least I figured out which direction is down
Well, with that in my belt I'll quit searching for the sun
And wait for the one that's gonna wake my ass up

When will I find it?
Now I'm by myself
When will I find it?
Now I'm beside myself
When will I find it?
Beside myself

What is this "right" for me
I don't know where to look or why I even try
It stings to think I must wait
But I'll wait if it's right for me

Can't wait for this to feel alright
Can't wait for this to feel alright

And here I wait, it's been far too long
I guess I'm jaded 'cause they want me to be everything
But all we need is to find ourselves
If I could only figure me out
I guess then it would be simple for everybody else
And then I won't have an empty seat beside myself
