Supposed to Be

Why can't I slow down and give up the race?
Is it because I fear the voices so?
Or because I can't hear the thoughts that know?

The world is hard, the world is cold, no color to show
But my heart, it's telling me there is so much more
Want to go back to what I know I can hold

I know how it's supposed to be
I'm supposed to be, be here planting my bare feet
And walking in fields of wheat
I'm supposed to be, I'm supposed to be
Here taking it slow, in a place I call home

We can act put together but we're falling apart
Being honest with each other, that's where we start
Swimming in muddy waters, it's a jungle out there

And how I got so lost, well heaven only knows
And how soothing the lakes and rivers could be
But I'd leave it all behind to feel free

I know how it's supposed to be
I'm supposed to be, be here planting my bare feet
And walking in fields of wheat
I'm supposed to be, I'm supposed to be
Here taking it slow, in a place I call home
