Honest or Angry

We've struggle for years to get it just right
We fought and we half compromised
Not what we wanted, but what we accepted
We shouldn't really be surprised

You say that it's time to admit it
All we've both grown is too weary
Insights and in fights have led you
To a place where, at last, you see clearly

But I'd rather be honest than angry
Rather be hurt then live in a lie
Rather be caught in a struggle
Than to give up and simply not try

If this is really worth saving
It's surely worth one last try
But if it's really worth saving
Should we both need to ask why

We've saved up our fears and resentments
Slowly spent all our time
Squandered our interest to pay petty taxes
Down to a thin bottom line

But I'd rather be honest than angry
Rather be hurt then live in a lie
Rather be caught in a struggle
Than to give up and simply not try

I'd rather we keep up the struggle
Than to give up and simply not try
