Last Request

I hesitate to share my thoughts
Sometimes it's right, sometimes it's not
Because talk of crime, conspiracy
Reflects on you as much as me

First in the picture and first to leave
Last on the landing and last to see

I sing as I tape the roof
And hum burying the proof
That I only kick the can down the road

Because there's nothing better than
A movement without a plan
An action unburdened by heavy load

Because finally being out of time
The all-consuming finish line
Before I go, you may have guessed
My very last request

I think I'm floating, I'm somewhere else
Some distance out, don't need no help
To stay detached, to stay aloof
To keep myself outside the loop

Lovely, inviting, and far too kind
Some other motive is masked behind

I'll walk in without a plan, turn into a missing man
And that's what I'm hoping for, so vacuum is at my door
And that's what I dreamed I'd find when I stepped outside of time
It turned on its hinges, I saw the grand array

And inch on out to the stars above
I'm closing in on the one I love
Before I go, I lay to rest
One very last request

Lend me your support, a suit
If NASA's got me or Roscosmos
Anywhere I'll hitch a ride, now tell me are you terrified?
I believe in sudden moves to break escape velocity
Chase the Soyuz, chase it down
