The Scientist

My time, your time
Relativity says all we are is dancing energy
This might be hard to believe
My laws, your laws
Must agree in harmony no matter who or where we are
This truth is plain to see

My face, your face
Is separated by a blade-width of a fraction of our genes
That's part of being a human being
It's likely that you and me to this day share DNA with all the other living things
That's basic high school biology

And it doesn't take a scientist to see that much of the world is beauty
And it doesn't take a scientist to know that much of what we see is shallow
And it doesn't take a scientist but I find understanding to be sublime
It doesn't take a scientist but you might just find

If I'm pi and you're i, we're linked by E fundamentally mathematical identity
It's hard to explain just what that means
If I'm prime and you're prime and we're together no one ever could divide us but ourselves
This can be learned more easily

My world and your world is just a pale blue dot
An earth view shot straight through Saturn's rings
That's not some crazy made up dream
You and me, even galaxies are so small within the sprawl of universal cosmic things
To say otherwise is make believe
