Tattoo

My Dad said don't you ever come home
with a tattoo on your skin.
There's always things out of our control
you can't stop them happening.
And compared to what I would do to hold her hand one more time,
I don't feel like a small tattoo is such a bad thing such a crime.
It's not just me it's my sister too,
we went together got the same tattoo.
And my Dad said what's the mark on your wrist we said it fades,
sorry Dad we lied to you.
Wearing a C and a small butterfly,
drawn for a girl with a beautiful smile,
9 years of life now 8 have gone by, and for her we still cry.
Always now she'll be part of my skin so close,
still a part of everything.
Cos some things in life you just can't control,
You cant stop them happening.
Always now,
part of my skin.
