One Chance

Until we learn to grow, make it our business to know
Following the tracks left around us as they go
Take a long hard look at the nature of humanity
We've blurred the lines between genius and insanity
Overburdened with the instinct to survive
Is that all that there is to this life?
Is that all that there is to this fucking life?
In the future they'll tell our story
Of how we idolised all the lying 'dignitaries'
But something tells me that a change in the tides is coming
There's only so long before the equation must be balanced truly
Manifesting in time
Everyone so sick of being told to fall in line
If you're going to make a difference
First you'd better start with yourself
What's the point in living a life being dictated to by someone else?
We've only got one chance on this earth before we leave it forever
And I've tried so hard but I can't sugar-coat it any better
Do you want to spend the rest of life living down on your knees?
Do you feel like you've been left here alone forever?
Until there's the slightest chance that we can grow for the better
Then we'll travel to the ends of the earth for the sake of a letter
If we can live in a time bereft of selfishness and greed
We'll get just what we need
Let me make things perfectly clear, just lend me your ear
Look at these people walking around in perpetual fear
Take a long hard look, they're addicted to the flashing screens
It's a terrible shame, cultivating the lame
Tools of modern slavery
A generation lost, exhausted from the pain and strife of this life
Is that all that there is to this life?
Is that all that there is to this fucking life?
In the future they'll tell our story
Of how we idolised all the lying 'dignitaries'
But something tells me that a change in the tides is coming
There's only so long before the equation must be balanced truly
Manifesting in time
Everyone so sick of being told to fall in line
If you're going to make a difference
First you'd better start with yourself
What's the point in living a life being dictated to by someone else?
Refuse conformity if you want to keep your integrity
Do I really have to explain this to you
Make a choice, because you've only got one chance
Just one
I know what I'ma do with mine
The question is, what you gonna do with yours?
'Cause
We've only got one chance on this earth before we leave it forever
And I've tried so hard but I can't sugar-coat it any better
Do you want to spend the rest of life living down on your knees?
Do you feel like you've been left here alone forever?
Until there's the slightest chance that we can grow for the better
Then we'll travel to the ends of the earth for the sake of a letter
If we can live in a time bereft of selfishness and greed
We'll get just what we need
