Not Too Late

Nothings as I planned it, on this peculiar planet
Running in rotation, walking round the towns
Of a young and dumb and naive nation
God damn this pavement, it feels like enslavement
And as the cars were piling up I crawled behind my coffee cup
There on the horizon, right before my eyes
An image I found so serene, a sunrise you'd find in a dream

And the sky illuminated, and the canvas clouds were painted
And after all of these escape routes that I've sought, I thought, I thought

I might as well look on the bright side
Settle in tight for the long ride
There is no one left to blame
Cutting my ties with these white lies
Keep an eye out for the sunrise
It is not too late to change

A wise man knows, that he's not wise
Instead of speaking loud he listens
And he tries to see it from both sides
I've been meaning to join him but I just got caught up
With obstacles parked in my head and problems I thought up

All these well phrased works of fiction
And the constant contradictions
Like Henry Thoreau, I let go of those things
But I sing, I sing

I might as well look on the bright side
Settle in tight for the long ride
There is no one left to blame
Cutting my ties with these white lies
Keep an eye out for the sunrise
It is not too late to change

It all boils down to a chemical reaction
A stream of dopamine, some endorphins then it happens
It's that quill penned promise, the pursuit of happiness
But it's only the pursuit, the rest you'll have to catch

And I know these times seem scary
But they're only temporary
We are constantly in motion
With emotions on the brink, and I think, I think

We might as well look on the bright side
Settle in tight for the long ride
There is no one left to blame
Cutting my ties with these white lies
Keep an eye out for the sunrise
It is not too late to change
