So Long

Next to the board games and basketball trophies
There sits an old bear with just one marble eye
He doesn't do much except gather some dust
As he waits for the boy to come play
But he just passes by
He must have somewhere that he's going
The new grown up bag that he's holding
He looks at the bear as he leaves, and he smiles and he says

I'll be back home one day, before long
So take care my old bear
Thank you and so long
So long
So long

The boy went to college and made some new friends
They comfortably spent the next four years together
Laughing at all of the trouble outside
They all tried to hide that they knew that no smile lasts forever
They scattered like leaves come November
But still they will always remember
The last perfect night when they held up their glasses and said

I'll see you again one day, before long
So take care my old friends
Thank you and so long
So long

And if it's true that love's a long goodbye
How lucky we all are to want to stay behind
So long

I'll see you again, one day before long
So take care my old friends
Thank you and so long
So long
