Wildfires

I should've kept it all inside of me
Dreams are always better than reality
But sometimes when you stood in front of me,
Those ember eyes ignited fires in me

And those wildfires spread through my brain
Every time I even thought your name
I'd remember those ember eyes
And those big blue flames within me would just instantly keep multiplying

Oh Wildfires, make for beautiful photography
But when they're running free inside of me
They're so much harder to contain

So I looked once more into those ember eyes
And I, thought I realized just what we needed
I poured my fire out for you to see
Just how badly I was craving you and me

Oh but Wildfires, only last as long as they can breathe
And when I shared my fire with you
You hosed it down with my reality

And that's what I get for playing ring around the rosies
Head up on your chest so cozy till you told me, it was over, yeah
And you burned me down to ashes, ashes
But why am I the only one falling down? oh

Maybe I went about these wildfires wrong
But understand me when I say the burn was strong, strong
Even stronger standing here in this debris
Is that third degree that you're giving me

Wildfires, leave an aftermath that is disastrous
And now I'm scaveging inside this broken heart
To preserve even the thought of us

Wildfires... I've got to prepare myself better next time for wildfires
