Land By The Sea

Another Autumn morning
With the fog on the hills
The mist on the lakeside
And the air so deathly still
The slumbering fells
Can't hear the old church bells
Time means nothing at all

The boats at the quay side
Their sails ripped and torn
Aimlessly are drifting
Like me, all alone
I stare at the tide
And I sigh inside
When will you come home

When are you coming home
When will you return
To my land by the sea

The twilight now has fallen
And the lanterns burn so bright
The water gently lapping
Pulls the stars out of the night
As I turn to the shore
The darkness asks once more
When will you come home

When are you coming home
When will you return
To my land by the sea

As I turn to the shore
The darkness asks once more
When will you come home
