Io, Armando

He ambles through
The archway near Maria's
A frozen wound
Bared only by the gentle moon
Lazes down
He rests against a kiwi tree
Draws a breath
And listens to his hamlet town sleep

A fallen nail
From the parish stone, the holy keep
Clatters down
Raising phantoms from the umbra creeks
Evening meals
The village kids play hide and seek
Share a glance
Then vanish into the walls of Alfieri

Ah, these hands
These stolen wings
Line the air the pine trees breathe
The mask it breaks
Bliss unveils
Though it dissipates like morning dew

But valiantly
His body yields
A sacrifice
For a kiss of time
For a moment is worth all of these wounds

By Margherita
Its ashy road, stowed summer heat
The crickets' speech
Gently moors unto the fountain stream
What charade
Why such a dance must die untold
His shadow quells and halts its reign
And lets the moonlight find
The olive tree by his house
Where he carves
Io, Armando
