Rain

Well another night I'm staring down
On an empty college ruled
It's bound to drive me out of my mind
And I can't stand to sit any longer on this stool
Because I'm watching time pass by
And I've been on the strings
For a good long while now
Been picking the rhythm blues
Since I was old enough to know how
And I've spent many days
Beating myself in the dirt
Just trying to find the words
To a song you've never heard

And it's getting late I know it's true
The street lamps are dimming down
And it's bloodshot red in my eyes
No words have I found
I guess it's time to hang it up for the night
Because I can't keep up any longer with this fight
My minds been sucked into the rhythm of these times
Getting worse with every step I take on down the line
And I'm feeling all alone crying out for a hand
Because the cloud I'm riding on is beginning to disband

All those days I spent blocking out the pain are coming down
With the rain and the lightning striking all up and around
My foundation I so thought could withstand a heavy storm
But here I stand a broken man with no flowers just the thorns

Well my shoulders are just about to give way to the load
Can't seem to break loose of this bind
And it's been a while now
Since I've been cast a stone
Guess I'm waiting on due time

But the days just seem to go
And my bones break further down
And I envy all the times
I stood on solid ground
Here I go again out searching in the dark
Racking my brain around just looking for a spark
