Wayside

Born on the 4th July
Hypocrite didn't take much time
To pick a side
The quickest ticket to the bay side
Give a scarlet letter
When the puritan survive

I'm a broken record spinning out of control
And Your the narrator of a book never sold
But I read It-didn't match what was told
Just ripped apart this soul
Give a scarlet letter
Remind em they're all better
The sinner damned forever

But I wrote the book on complexity, human greed and moral purity
So save your lecture
I've got company
With every book in my library

I've taken up at the wayside
Yeah I've got much to write

One another
Won't infringe ya
Two each-other
Just enough to injure

Fort Knox got an empty safe
With fools gold piled high
We all get what we demand
When the truths in short supply
Give a scarlet letter
Don't you dare forgive em ever
What we preach need not apply

Fanshawe don't forget about me
She the angler down by the sea
So (lets) Burn every copy in the colony
Like Salem burned anyone
But times are better
Now we lock em up forever and throw away the key

But I read a book that said 'turn your cheek'
And I read a book that said 'died for me'
But it's 1864
This House divided in civil war!!!

Can we compromise?
Both sides (pew) have seen sacrifice
I'll give you my weight in gold to keep a nation whole
I forgive you-cast no blame
We all learn and change
Do you believe the same?

I'm taking up at the wayside
To work on my last goodbye
So if I don't see you again In this life
I suppose I don't see you on the other side
Carolina, Virginia, North Salem and continue
New line of opinion

I'm taking up at the wayside
