Island.

You were an island, couldn't get to you
Sharks in the water, couldn't navigate the blue
Through the storm, tried to direct the wind
But my sails were torn, so I tried to swim

Poetry in foreign tongues I couldn't understand
Comin' from your head
Every time I tried to reach you
Arms not long enough, you say
"Where you been?"

I am right in front of you
Right in front of you

I was a desert, my tongue left words to dry
Never asked if I was thirsty or why I couldn't cry
Sand filled my shoes so I couldn't walk away
And the island that I loved,
A mirage out in the bay

Poetry in foreign tongues I couldn't understand
Comin' from your head
Every time I tried to reach you
Arms not long enough, you say
"Where you been?"

I am right in front of you
Right in front of you

Right in front of you
Right in front of you
