Monkeys

There are two major categories that separate all the monkeys
There's old world who live in Asia and Africa

They have got pouches in their cheeks to store food that they later eat
While new world live in America and Gibralter

Prehensile tails can only be
Found on the new world monkeys

There's more than 300 different types of monkeys
All varying in shape and size, most live in trees
Except for baboons who prefer the floor

Groups of monkeys are often called a tribe or troop
They have no fixed home as they're always on the move
Searching for more food from a new source

Mandrills are the largest at three feet and nearly 80 pounds with long teeth
Howler monkeys have small testicles and the loudest call

Proboscis monkeys stomachs take 50 hours to digest what they ate
If they consume sugars from ripe fruit they could die

To attract females capuchins
Will cover their bodies in urine

The strongest, largest male will be the leader
Of the tribe mating with many female partners
They may fight for reproductive rights

A mother will only give birth once every
Couple of years but often avoids pregnancy
If food's scarce and other needs aren't met

They express affection by grooming each other
They like to play and cuddle with one another
Their tails tips are highly sensitive

Monkeys can understand numbers and even add
Most have opposable thumbs on their feet and hands
They can use tools as they are astute

Monkeys communicate through various vocal
Noises and body language they're highly social
When alone they find it hard to cope
