Sharks

For over 400 million years sharks have been around
There are more than 500 species of sharks alive now

Sharks aren't able to make noises
Hence the term the 'silent killer'
They sense electrical tremors
Emitted by prey in close water

In a life time sharks can go through 30,000 teeth
Most sharks must swim to pass water through their gills so they can breathe

Sharks have many gills unlike fish
Instead of bones they have cartilage
Their skin is very abrasive
And can be six inches thick

Great whites can consume
Eleven tons of food a year
Yet go three months without eating

The first pup to hatch
From a tiger sharks batch will kill
And eat all of it's own siblings

Whale sharks can reach
More than 41 feet being
The largest shark when fully grown

The fastest swimmer
At 60 miles per hour is none
Other than the shortfin Mako
