This New Place
Hey there my name is Ethan Jermain
And I'm honestly not used to playing name games
I'm from a small school. Knew everyone it was the same
But now I'm in a big public school making a name
I've always lived in the area. It's where I'm from
My favorite hobbies are doin' karate and playin' drums
In four years there's a lot I'll have to overcome
But I'm excited to see who I'll become
So I'm stepping out of the dirt
And never looking back
I'll put my best face forward
Cause I'm not stopping yet
Cause in this new place in freshmen year
I thought I didn't have a voice, have a face
In this new place in freshmen year
I tried to stay out of the crowd and keep my space
I had no confidence, but once I got some good friends
I really realized the real lies in my mind
Cause in this new place in freshmen year
I could be the ace
Walking through these hallways I kept my head down
But as the days went by, I learned to step off the ground
As I memorized combo locks and routes through the school
I found a great group of friends who let me be cool
And then there was hoco and it was so lovely
We danced the night away
Didn't get home till 12:30
That night I stepped out of the dirt
And I never looked back
I put my best face forward now
And I'm not stopping yet
Cause in this new place in freshmen year
I thought I didn't have a voice, have a face
In this new place in freshmen year
I tried to stay out of the crowd and keep my space
I had no confidence, but once I got some good friends
I really realized the real lies in my mind
Cause in this new place in freshmen year
I could be the ace
And the year was goin' fine
I was working through the times
But when I thought life was coming around
In a split second, it turned upside down
But I stepped back up, recovered kinda fast
Had a heck of an end. Man, it was a blast
I finished the year. I'm not at the bottom no more
I finished one year out of four and now I'm sure
That in this new place
I thought I didn't have a voice have a face
In this new place
I tried to stay out of the crowd and keep my space
I had no confidence but once I got some good friends
I really realized the real lies in my mind
Cause in this new place
I could be the ace
In this new place in freshmen year
I thought I didn't have a voice have a face
In this new place in freshmen year
I tried to stay out of the crowd and keep my space
I had no confidence but once I got some good friends
I really realized the real lies in my mind
Cause in this new place in freshmen year
I could be the ace
Give a cheer to your freshmen year
And I'm honestly not used to playing name games
