Sunset
This is my last night
My journey's end
But there's a feeling inside me
I won't forget
Cause as I'm looking back at all of it
Indescribable words can't pretend
But I can't begin to comprehend
It's hard to believe I've reached the sunset
I woke up this morning to my last new day
Took the curtains and pushed them out of the way
And I felt the warmth of the sun. Took a deep breath in my lungs
And I knew everything was gonna be ok
So I'll take the time I need to get ready
So I don't have to fall later on
But packing my life up in many a cardboard box
Reminds me that this journey was so fun
Do you remember when the day was so cloudy
The rain poured down but it stopped eventually
In that dusk the sky and the trees their colors taught me
That the sky can take my storm clouds and turn them into beauty
This is my last night
My journey's end
But there's a feeling inside me
I won't forget
Cause as I'm looking back at all of it
Indescribable words can't pretend
But it's happening oh all so fast
It's hard to believe I've reached the sunset
Now as I'm leaving this old place, I realize
How grateful I am to have this journey in my life
Cause I got to play with North's drumline (one last time)
And I guess Junior Year was alright
Cause it paved the path for this story and its lyric lines
Do you remember when the day was so cloudy
The rain poured down but it stopped eventually
In that dusk the sky and the trees their colors taught me
That the sky can take my storm clouds and turn them into beauty
And as I'm sitting here
Thinking of everything
I know I got the good ending
So let's look back at my memories
Welcome to the greatest years of your life
It's time to show the world who I am
In this new place
Won't you be my friend and sort some M&M's with me
Oh my lord I have fifteen things on my plate
Let's walk through the window
I'll carry you
Why can't time just stand still
This year we went through the good and the bad
I need you, Jesus
Can we return to our roots
I don't wanna cross the finish line yet
You guys gave me these memories
And I wouldn't trade the world for them you see
And though I'm gonna be gone for a while
I hope I could've made you smile
And though the world may drag me back
For now, I'll live my life
It's my last night
My journey's end
But there's a feeling inside me
I won't forget
As I'm looking back at all of it
Indescribable words can't pretend
But I can't begin to comprehend
And it's happening oh all so fast
But I can't wait to see you all again
It's hard to believe I've reached the sunset
I know this moment won't last forever
So I'll take it in
And I start to realize
As I watch the sunset from this cliff
That I didn't get a perfect story
But I kept my head up tall
And when I tell my kids these stories
I'll tell them
That I made the most of it all
My journey's end
But there's a feeling inside me
I won't forget
Cause as I'm looking back at all of it
Indescribable words can't pretend
But I can't begin to comprehend
It's hard to believe I've reached the sunset
