Holding the future

First days of June
In the outskirts of my town there is something out of tune
Trees are dancing in the police lights
And somebody is waiting in the shade tonight

The woman on the balcony asks to me
Who brought 54 so called "refugees"?
My backyard is a menace for me now
Why hasn't the master opened his cozy house?

One day of July
A journalist comes to feed city's hungry minds
In the lack of knowledge just a glance becomes a truth
And work turns into an exotic adventure

The man behind the camera asks to me
Why if they don't run away from war are they coming here?
As if you were taking picture with a machine gun
I'm holding their future now

Every day of this little life
I've carried the burden of the lucky side
I try to give back something to the world
Death like a stranger knocks on the neighbors' doors

The man inside the camp asks to me
Why if God is on my side here I'm not free?
Please friend find me a job in this very town
'cause you're holding my future now

In every crack of this humanity
I have found a system setting down reality
Dreams can dance when you close your eyes
But in the morning you're again in the web of life

The government behind the telephone asks to us
Do you want to take ten migrants that arrived last?
With control and an absurd bureaucracy
We're shaping the ghosts of the 21st century
and I'm holding their future now
yes I'm holding their future now
mmm I'm holding their future now
yes I'm holding their future now
mmm I'm holding their future now
yes I'm holding their future now
mmm I'm holding their future now
yes I'm holding their future now
mmm I'm holding their future now
