Cityscapes

When the sun rises you're gone
On your way to see another cityscape
Every night you belong on a stage
Where no one even knows your name
But it's alright, you know you're a different breed
To find a troubled life so comforting
And smile while you're suffering
From not seeing enough of your family
And when it's time i'm sure you'll make the same mistake
You're not around when you're of need to them
And nothing's ever easy when
Your dad ain't been home in ninety days

You know I'd love to be there to see you as you grow
Into the person that we often hoped you would
But I hope that you know that I care about you all
I'll be there to catch you when you fall
Going state to state you know we're movin port to port
There are other things in life that are more important
Like the love in my heart and to be a decent man
That makes me what I am
These are the thoughts of being on the road
One day you're high and the next you're low
So many friends but you feel alone
Staying up with the lights on thinkin' all night long
Wishin that you could go home
