A Hollow Reflection

Now sweat seeps from my every pore,
What will I find beyond this door
Inside I find a sumptuous hall
Vast mirrors decorating each and every wall,

Musicians play as patrons dance
Bodies moving in a rhythmic trance

No eye contact is ever made
No tender touch nor smile repaid,

What is the penalty
For self-idolatry
They'll shift eternally

Then suddenly a haunting scream
Erupting within this ghastly dream,
A patron felled upon the floor
3 servants take him to the nearest door,

And from this void of smoke and fire
His body's hurled into the pyre,
And as I hear his wretched cries
I raise my hands to shield my eyes,

What is the penalty
For self-idolatry
They'll shift eternally

As his bones turn to ash i think to myself
What is this fiendish horror that I see
Sinews are snapping, the patrons are cackling, Will this be my destiny
Suddenly I feel a hand on my shoulder
What now for me? What fate is planned
The host stands near
Come, you must not fear

We have your room, please follow me
Room 696 it says on the key,
And up we climb the winding stair
And on it goes this cruel nightmare,
Then finally we reach the top
Exhaustion causing me to sway,
' This will be your room tonight,
I shall call on you first light'
Another door? How many more
What wickedness now lies in store

What is the penalty
For self-idolatry
They'll shift eternally
