Paradise

Far from the Garden of Eden
We made our home
We nurtured the grounds
In hope that our love would grow

Our trees grew tall and strong
To shelter the growth so young
Defending the path before us
That leads through the safe place
We call our home

How could this happen to me?
How could my life's meaning concede to rot?
Defying any attention given like my love's not enough
From beneath the debris
I wonder, was this fated for me?
Was it something I did
That brought my dreams down on top of my head?

Was it something I did
That brought my dreams down on top of my head?

Through heavy rains and winds
Our plot held strong
Any repairs we made
Reinforced the roof and the walls
Each night, the sun relinquished its fame
For the stars to embrace
But the pride in our works
Outshined their brightest blaze

In Paradise lives our tree house
A single room in the sky
Now weathered like the limbs beneath
It stands proud holding our memories

How could this happen to me?
How could my life's meaning concede to rot?
Defying any attention given like my love's not enough
From beneath the debris
I wonder, was this fated for me?
Was it something I did
That brought my dreams down on top of my head
(Was it something I did?)

Maybe I looked away for too long
Maybe I lost sight of hope
How could I know that the fibres I'd grow
Would come to form this very rope?

How could this happen to me?
How could my life's meaning concede to rot?
Defying any attention given like my love's not enough
From beneath the debris
I wonder, was this fated for me?
Was it something I did
That brought my dreams down on top of my head?

Was it something I did
That brought my dreams down on top of my head?
