American Sonata

Welcome to America
Land of the rich and displeased
Once home of the brave
Now the shamed and diseased
We believe our land is the best
And the people are so pure
But between DC and Hollywood
I'm feeling a little insecure
We send out troops to fight the wars
None of us even approved
Control the world with dollar signs
We, the citizens, are abused
Uncontested Monopolies
Bribing leaders, left and right
We work hard for those elected few
To sleep well every night
What have we become
With a bottle of whiskey
And a gun in my hand
Its raining blood
On this encroached land
Fight fire with fire
Burn them at the stake
Leave them a corpse
With a hammer smashed face
