Red Dodge Hemi 440

Well I'm headin down the highway just tryin to get to friday
Lookin for my girlfriend can't find my best friends chevy truck
I'd dropped her at her girlfriends who claimed she had a real mysterious illness
And told her she was down on her luck
Headed back to her girlfriends cause I found her cell phone
In the console of my big red dodge ram hemi 440
Got there bout eight thirty and the house was cold and dark
And that's when I thought they might be havin a one on one party

Well I ain't jumped to any conclusions as of yet
But I'd be lyin if I said the obvious it hadn't crossed my mind
I love him like a brother but she is my lover
And you that that really puts me in one helluva a bind
I been east I been west north and south all over the usual hangouts
They just ain't in this one horse town

Merle was singin about a love gone wrong and I was still on it hard
When I hit interstate 24 headed towards lubbock
Slid to a stop in the parking lot of this joint called the blue light
And stormed in with a crazy fire in my eyes
Asked the bartender if he'd seen my best friend with my girl friend
And that he best not be feedin me any of his lies
Said he'd seen my buddy bout an hour ago and he'd left with some old chick
And that just shot my theory all to hell

Sat in my truck tryin to calm myself down and I tell you
I left that parking lot a lot slower as I drove on outa that town
Just happened to glance over in the parking lot of the local flea bag motel
And caught sight of my buddy's truck camper shell
Well I pulled down a side street and I slipped out like a ninja in the night
And made my way over to bust his chops about this old lady
Imagine my surprise as I opened the campers door
And realized that I knew that old woman and I was about to be totally sick
