In The West

A miserable day I wish I could say
It's gonna pan out but it's fizzling out
Not a drop, no cloud it's a full-blown drought
Almost can't move, only at diminished pace
Sun burns down relentlessly on my face
The next town must only be minutes away
A ray of hope although it's still uncertain
If it's to bring about change
Cos people are not sweet-tempered these days
Every man for himself
Deceiving, they plot and smile at your face
Boy, I'll be damned, go to hell!
Thank God, I'm a loner non grata persona
That's how I got older than the average man
Better move on now the sun is about to set over
Them Great Plains
I'm gonna make camp in this old ravine
Start a small fire, bake me some beans
Prepared for the cold of the night, I
Got me a Bison skin some shuteye I need
Sleep with my iron wake up at the slightest peep
Not even a lion pride could creep up on me
A two-hours rest is all that I get
It's fine by me

When you ride through the West
One tough son of a bitch
A life in the West
It takes a heavy toll
You ride through the West
Never know what or which
A life in the West
Unforgivable

Reaching St. Anne, a quarter past noon
Tie up my horse at Sherman's Saloon
A couple of goons right on the porch
Never met 'em before but will do so soon
'Course they're suspicious mean, this is
A place that's so vicious publicists will name it
The Devil's Womb where Evil was born
Step inside size up the place
Reconcile myself to fate
All eyes upon that stranger
Who am I to walk up straight
To the bar wetting my throat, uhh
Sit at the table to play me some poker
Guess them good times are over cos that's when I
See them fools stepping in
People get startled, choose your weapon and
Prepare for battle, man it takes a second, then
The smoke is settling you can add several men
To my body count as of yet still nobody found
A cure better than pure dominance
To the disease that called arrogance
Guess, I'm on the road again
Spurring my horse a Quarter, of course
Riding for miles, no rest got this feeling in my gut
This time I'm less fortunate
Not only the sheriff's on my ass
But the rest of Mc Gilding Gang on my trail
To let justice prevail
And I don't mean putting me up for trial
So, I'm well-advised to lay low for a while
Head to the mountains been here for thousands of years
Keep watching my rear as the night's drawing near, I can feel
My eyes getting weary hardly can tell if what I'm seeing is real
So, here is where I be laying to rest
Praying the slaying will pass as I close my eyes
I wake up to stare down the barrel
No need to be fighting now, boy, just let go

When you ride through the West
One tough son of a bitch
A life in the West
It takes a heavy toll
You ride through the West
Never know what or which
A life in the West
Unforgivable
When you ride through the West
One tough son of a bitch
A life in the West
It takes a heavy toll
You ride through the West
Never know what or which
A life in the West
Unforgivable
