Black Curtain
Everyone have something to hide
Maybe you feel like a failure
And you would rather keep those tears deep inside
Mistakes often gets forgotten
By everyone but you, you, you
One faulty move with the pensel
And your whole world goes blue, blue, blue
And then people always say
"Let all your colors shine through"
But what if you're not ready
To step into the light
What if you're not ready
To be in someone's sight
What if you're not ready
To walk on strings up in the heights
When a costume isn't enough
And you must find a place to hide
Everbody needs a black curtain sometimes
To cover up the scene, hide from the lights
'Cause if I would play out every character in me
You never know if that would make someone leave
So I turn of the spotlights and walk down the stage
And when it's time for curtain call
Let the black curtain fall
Everyone have something to hide
Maybe 'cause of shame or fear
Or maybe it's already buried deep inside
And you don't wanna start digging
And digging, and digging, and digging again
Afraid the casket you remember
Would look just the same, the same, the same
Afraid the smell would scare everyone away
And what if they're not ready
To see your shadows from the past
What if they're not ready
To see you like that
What if they're not ready
To walk with you along your path
You need a second to breathe
And you must find a place to hide
Everybody needs a black curtain sometimes
To cover up the scene, hide from the lights
I'm just so scared to show you everything
'Cause sometimes I am winter never turning to spring
So I turn of the spotlights and walk down the stage
And when it's time for curtain call
Let the black curtain fall
Act 1, Act 2 and that is it
They don't have to know that an act 3 exists
Not telling the full story, but it should be enough
For most of them, it should be enough
Act 1, act 2 and that is it
But I think you should know that an act 3 exists
And I'll tell you in time
But for now
Everybody needs a black curtain sometimes
To cover up the scene, hide from the lights
(Hide from it all)
Everybody needs a black curtain sometimes
To cover up the scene, hide from the lights
It's just so hard to feel like enough for the crowd
And all of the critics are complaining too loud
Everybody needs a black curtain sometimes
To cover up the scene, hide from the lights
Just keeping quiet, just not telling the whole truth
(So what's the whole truth?)
But it sure feels like lying when I'm hiding from you
But I turn of the spotlights and walk down the stage
And when it's time for curtain call
Let the black curtain fall
Let the black curtain fall
Let the black curtain fall
But when I'm ready for the next show
I'll invite you back in
Don't mind the empty seats
When I'm ready for the last show
I hope you will come in
And when it's time for the curtain to fall
I hope you'll be with me through it all
Maybe you feel like a failure
And you would rather keep those tears deep inside
Mistakes often gets forgotten
By everyone but you, you, you
One faulty move with the pensel
