Life of a Misfit
Said I done grew up
But man I been a misfit
Another screw up
Done poured me up another drink
I threw my shot up
Just to see it miss again
What am I proud of?
Man every little thing
Said I done grew up
But man I been a misfit
Another screw up
Done poured me up another drink
I threw my shot up
Just to see it miss again
What am I proud of?
Man every little thing
Can't waste my time tracing back lines of regret
So I splash some color outside, release the leaves of my stress
And root some trees of progress
I'll be imperfect at best, and let God handle the rest
See that's the test
Yes, I'm blessed
Yes I left all the cooking to the best chef
Yet they're pressed
Broke their necks to see another brother trip
They grab the grip, if he don't fall then they'll force him to slip
I would blame them but that's jus how the world is
This is the life that we live
You either kill be killed, lessons you give to your kids
That's why it's been how it's been
That's why it is what is
That's why I'm still a misfit
(Said I done grew up man)
Often think back to my nappy big headed days
My thoughts replay every second every day
Like they were on a big screen at the movies and the entrance fee was free
I try to choose me, they want the breath that I breathe
I try to water their leaves, they want the sun that makes it green
Said I done grew up
But man I been a misfit
Another screw up
Done poured me up another drink
I threw my shot up
Just to see it miss again
What am I proud of?
Man every little thing
Would say I'm running out of time, it's just a social construct
Misfortunes of a misfit committing social misconduct
A product of pursuing problems with those around him
And doubt-filled thoughts crowding his headspace and prodigal conscience
Still he was loved anyway, 12 years straight momma hosted celebrations of his birthday
But kid it ain't your fault it always rained down on your day
Still he felt some type of way, scratching racking his brain
Screaming, streaming tears challenging rain like what'd I do to deserve these things?
And the more life took, the more selfish he grew
Like if You won't give it to me Lord well I'll take it from You
If the change dare come up short then I'll take even more
If she boast about being right then I'll tell her she's wrong,
And if they're challenging my heart then I'll show them I'm strong
And I'll play with their emotions they'll miss me when I'm gone
Well there's some more acts of the misfit fit in his state of immature
Said I done grew up
But man I been a misfit
Another screw up
Done poured me up another drink
I threw my shot up
Just to see it miss again
What am I proud of?
Man every little thing
Said I done grew up
But man I been a misfit

Done poured me up another drink

What am I proud of?
