The Sun's Golden Tavern (Live)
The road is littered with oddities and illusions
Meanwhile my world has been amended by the truth and confusion
Is it all so meaningful?
Is it all so powerful?
Or is it ultimately meaningless?
And I want to know, I want to know, I want to know
But do I really want to - know?
And so it goes
And I'm embracing all that life may have to offer
Not letting any moment slip away
Opting to maintain my sense of dignity
Or something resembling such if I may
To use up my desire for unknowing
To deliver my acceptance to defeat
For if I am old enough now to know better
Can I still be young enough to be naïve?
And as we gaze upon locations once out of focus
We find every aspect of reality coming into place
Fitting together like crude puzzle pieces
To tell the story once neatly arranged
Of trading normality for a cultured perspective
Of trading in one's definition of normality
And again I've arrived to some kind of heaven
And again I must be leaving
And here we are, once more, the guests
In the sun's golden tavern
Oh here we are, once more, the guests
In the sun's golden tavern
And I have helped myself to a second helping
As well as having been unable to help myself
And I have befriended certain circumstances
Knowing whatever the outcome, this will not end well
But now I've arrived with these greetings of tranquility
So often that they now know my name
Still on this hedonist treadmill I keep on running
Carrying the torch and tending to the flame
And here we are, once more, the guests
In the sun's golden tavern
Oh here we are, once more, the guests
In the sun's golden tavern
Now we're standing in the future
Looking at the same imperfections but from another angle
Now here I am in the past
Speaking of how things used to be
So will you take this offering of the temporary moment?
Will you allow me to exist in your memory?
Or am I just a clownfish who pretends to be prophetic?
To have you believe we're living in prophesy?
And now here we are, once more, the guests
In the sun's golden tavern
Oh here we are, once more, the guests
In the sun's golden tavern
Meanwhile my world has been amended by the truth and confusion
Is it all so meaningful?
Is it all so powerful?
Or is it ultimately meaningless?
