First Premise

(Derrick Jensen)
Civilization is a way of life
That's characterized by the growth of cities
And a city is a collection of people living in numbers large enough
To require the importation of resources
Two things happen as soon as
You require the importation of resources
One is that you can never be sustainable
Which means that we could all become
The best little natural capitalists in the world
And it doesn't matter.
So long as there is this fundamental system in place
It's not gonna be sustainable.
And the other thing it means is that
Your way of life must be based on violence.
Because, if you require the importation of resources
Trade will never be sufficiently reliable
Because, if you require the importation of resources
And the people in the next watershed over
Aren't gonna trade you for it
You're gonna take it
Which means we could all become Junior Boddhisattvas
And it wouldn't matter
The U.S. military would still have to be huge
Because how else are they going to get access to our oil
That just happens to be under somebody else's land?
If they require that oil
They're gonna take it

(Zack de la Rouda)
Try to see the big picture
The only problem with the planet
Is the civilized system that we live in
And everybody's figuring
If all the people were a little better,
We could make 'em equal again
Like, if we weren't born evil or greedy
We wouldn't have to go to war
And kill each other for resources
Like, if we were more generous, we could handle this
But society's too big to be peaceful
Environmentalists tryna bring the bandages in
When we haven't stopped the injury yet
Got our veins opened up
Hands stained with the blood of our brother
As the industry spread, tryna get fed
And what they never gonna get taught in their classes is
Everybody here is in charge like a battery is
Which means not at all. Cities gotta grow
Nothing matters but the structure like it's Noah's Ark
When we were gatherer-hunters, we ain't had famine or hunger
We were supported by the land and we trusted it
Father Sky was above us
While Mother Earth gave love to our tribes, it was just us
Then when Eve ate the apple
That was a metaphor for the birth of our agriculture
From Sumeria to Babylon,
To the World Trade Center, White House and the Pentagon
It's all pyramid schemes in our heritage
Kings always need slaves to sail their ships
And it's just like Derrick said
When we rape the earth, then the meek won't inherit shit
So if you love life, you need to resist
This industrial civilization, I'm a green anarchist and
I preach primitivism. It's the endgame, that's what I'm saying, but
It's all right, just try to keep your chin up
And keep fighting, being lazy is the main offense
Some nights, I reminisce
Thinking back to the way that we used to live
We were connected, one with everything
What we're trapped on now is a sinking ship
We had benefits that we can't forget
But the problem is not with humanity
We're on the precipice of an apocalypse
And the system can't be fixed
It's inherently bad. It'd be best if it crashed
Listen, it's just like Derrick said
