Eighth Premise

(Derrick Jensen)
The needs of the natural world are more important
Than the needs of the economic system
Another way to put the Eighth Premise is
Any economic or social system
That doesn't benefit the natural communities
On which it's based
Is unsustainable, immoral, and really stupid
Sustainability, morality, and intelligence
As well as justice, requires the dismantling
Of any such economic or social system
Or at the very least,
Disallowing it from damaging your land base

When you accept the fact the system gonna fall
Sooner or later, you can't be afraid of moving on
What's the message? Endgame
Stay or escape, city living or
The Garden of Eden that we forgot
We got here by complacency
Memes are the walls of this cage
And fear is the reason we stay asleep
We need to shake our fists,
Flood the streets, bang for freedom
But we must make sure we're the change that we wanna see
Cause nothing matters if our children have nothing to eat
And all our avarice is fallacy
Cause poverty only happens in a pyramid-scheme hierarchy
The people in tribal societies all were equals
Now we're each awake
We need to see our way out of this powerlessness
So don't be afraid
We got that clarity that comes with insanity,
I hope y'all hearing me when I say
I said, I hope y'all hearing me when I say what I say
The needs of the natural world
Are far more important than our factories
The needs of the natural world
Are far more important than our plastic things
The needs of the natural world
Are far more important than our happiness
That's how it actually is
We're all a part of the tapestry
Mother E arth is a masterpiece
And the needs of the natural world
Are far more important than economies
Do you follow me?
Honestly, if we all stopped suddenly
The biosphere would heave a sigh of relief
And the needs of the natural world
Are far more important than the things that we think that we need
The needs of the natural world
Are far more important than you and me
That's how it truly be
Yeah, you will see
