Wounded Pride

Wounded Pride
As a rich young boy he was mesmerized
By the clout that he had from his dad
And he recognized he could do what he pleased
And just enjoy the ride cause his future was already made

Oh and that young boy grew up and he magnified
All the deals he supposedly sealed though he mostly lied
And ignored all the rules that did not coincide
With the fantasy world where he played
Yes he played and told himself that he was not afraid

And then his his life moved on he identified
As a man who would fight day and night
When those lawyers tried to sniff out the truth that he had falsified
But he never betrayed his charade
Ooh I wonder what would it have taken just to help him heal
To step out of the shadows and then reveal
That scared little boy who must always be strong
Must always be right and never be wrong never wrong

In the end he refused just to step aside
In the fight he ignited a fuse and many people died
And we were not amused with the tricks he tried
So we showed him the door and we prayed
Yes we prayed that he had gone away to stay
And yet he keeps on shouting from the side
He goes on not to be denied
No he can't quit he just can't let it slide

Cause there's nowhere to run from his wounded pride
Cause there's nowhere to hide from his wounded pride
Oh he's under the gun with his wounded pride
And he's been outdone by his wounded pride
