Sisyphean

Burden weighs me down
Bitter pride clouds my thoughts
'Cause I still look for signs to tell me I'm not wrong
And I still pray to a God indifferent to my misery

I watched them turn their backs
To my fleeting crying out loud
The restless hands of time
Eroding my flesh and bones

Thoughtless mind
Pushing past the end
A crippled man
A victim to the war within

The fading light of day
Took with it the path ahead
The gnawing fangs of time
Consuming my flesh and bones

I stood here for a million years watching stars grow cold and fade
I've seen the flames engulf the fields where man crowned himself king
And in the grove where rivers meet and time once held its breath
I saw the snake coil 'round the tree as life gave birth to death

Warm and frail, they hold the weight
Cold and vain, the tyrant's will
Maimed and broken, troubled remains

I watched them turn their backs
To my fleeting crying out loud
The restless hands of time
Eroding my flesh and bones
