Oscar's Christmas Lament

Well I dream about a warm pisspot in the morning
And Christmas dinner, a can of oily sardines
A warm Brooklyn beer in the switching yard
To wash down a pack of stale saltines

And I'm waiting on a train
Going to leave my troubles behind
Head out west to California
Where they say the sun shine all the time

Little boys grow up to be old hobos
They drink and ramble until they're toothless and gray
Sit around shivering between boxcars
Playing gin rummy on a cold Christmas Day.

And I'm waiting on a train
Going to leave my troubles behind
Head out west to California
Where they say the sun shine all the time

Well I miss my mama & my daddy
And I miss my little brother Willie too
He hung himself in the old smokehouse
Over a girl that he hardly knew
