When I Was Ten

I was a kid, my purity at peak
Thought the future would be so sweet
At just 14, I gave up

After which, I would keep on trying
To find reason to live but inside I was dying
Still at 19 with no love

At times, I look back and think life
Was easier when I never felt the need to cry
So, I kept trying everyday
To break the sorrow I think back to better days

When I was ten and had a simpler time
Adorned such youthful eyes
Had good days on my mind
I feel the love in me
From a distant memory
When I was ten and all I had back then was peace

Every time, I downward spiral
Every day, a reason to end it
Everyone, a person to hate me
Everything is so complicated

But I bounced back, time again
Knock me down 99, get up 100
My inner child healing to extents I don't believe
And now I'm looking at the mirror smiling back inside of me

At times, I look back and think life
Was easier when I never felt the need to cry
So, I kept trying everyday
To break the sorrow I think back to better days

When I was ten and had a simpler time
Adorned such youthful eyes
Had good days on my mind
I feel the love in me
From a distant memory
When I was ten and all I had back then was peace
