Taking a ride down veterans drive
I know every block as it blurs by
I could do it with my eyes closed

Its a simpler place from a simpler time
There were kids my age or at least close to my age
We could play outside on our own

Red oak trees potholed streets
Water towers grocery meats
The sound of the dial tone

There's the Dairy Queen where I had my first job
Where I saw my first gun took my first drugs
We were 15 or 16 years old
She was twisting cones
When was the last time you were home

Underneath the bridge by the riverside
Where those vampires lured a drifter within
And cracked his skull with a stone
When was the last time you were home

The monastery nursing floor
Where they hide the monks no one wants to know
How they stole the youth from those poor souls
When was the last time you were home

First place I go is that shoreline
Where they dont build houses
And don't allow boats
And I hold my breath underwater for a while
