Get Up

She's hit the ground; She's down and out
And now she's lost the will to rise
With all that's left, she lifts her head,
Looks disaster in the eyes,
Defies remand, and finds the strength to stand
No longer disinclined,
She takes a step toward all that lies ahead
She keeps these words in mind:

You can spend your whole life wasting away
When there's a world to discover
Now you gotta get up,

You gotta push yourself along
You can rest when it's over

And now she's back
They couldn't keep her away,
She hit the bottom,
But she knew it wasn't an option to stay
And even though she'd almost given up,
She felt she couldn't betray the steady voice in her head
That tells her everyday
To try and be someone better until a difference is made
She's starts from within
She knows she must be the change
That she wishes so dearly the world would display
She strives constantly
Conscious of the steps that she takes
'Cause honestly, progress can be hard to see
But looking close, it shows that she's advancing incrementally
And though too often she is met with unrelenting animosity
She knows a noble cause requires all of ones autonomy
She's running on an empty tank
But going 'cause she knows she can
Moving on with nothing left
And doing her best to start again
With everything against her,
She knows there won't be a second chance
She takes a breath and focuses
On words that someone close had said to her
