Slow Sips

She drinks tea in slow sips
Coated in tight-lipped urgency
Marked by careful calligraphy
Of time lost to the tender
Brush of the sea
Moving in tandem with my anxiety
I don't want her to leave

I see wrinkles decorate her skin
Like debris. Dead leaves and
Wintergreen lend their thoughts
To me and I sieve through
Each line looking for
Space to breathe
And she drinks tea in
Slow sips, sings sweet
Melody, her fingers tremble and
Send tremors through the
Depths of me and I don't
Want her to leave

She drifts through the room gently
Bated breath and feet moving quietly
I see glimpses of the woman she usd to be
And my eyes ache at the memory
But she drinks tea in slow sips
Mouth puckering at the edge of me
Fear sour as boxberry
The cup tips and my world upends permanently
I don't want her to leave
