The Gravedigger and the Sheriff

Well I'm the only Gravedigger in this town and shire
I will dig a 6-foot hole wherever it's required
I'll come onto a plot of land and pile away the dirt
Just to put some poor sod in the ground and pray that it's deserved
Well it is festival today, my only restful day
And I had planned on eating, drinking- out all day I'd stay
It had not been three damn hours until I was sent for
They told me what the Sheriff's done, he'd soon be dead for sure
And all the passerby would see the line the Sheriff crossed
And I would tell them all how much touching the Dutchess cost
And though the government may try to come collect our terrif
All that they can hear us yell, is "Hey! Defund the Sheriff!"
I oft-times wonder why I took the grave-digging role
Now I must sacrifice a day to dig a 6-foot hole
The Dutchess- in a game of chess- the Sheriff she did beat
And since he's used to shortcomings, I'll give him just two feet!
And all the passerby would see the line the Sheriff crossed
And I would tell them all how much touching the Dutchess cost
And though the government may try to come collect our terrif
All that they can hear us yell, is "Hey! Defund the Sheriff!"
Now I sit in the blazing sun, missing all the beer
So let me take this time to make something to you quite clear
Mark my words, if you dare die on this most festive day
I'll bring you back, kill you again, so for my pain you'll pay
And all the passerby would see the line the Sheriff crossed
And I would tell them all how much touching the Dutchess cost
And though the government may try to come collect our terrif
All that they can hear us yell, is "Hey! Defund the Sheriff!"
