Rainy Day

I must have been only eight years old, sittin' on my granddad's knee
When he took a dollar from his wallet, placed it in my hand, and smiled at me
He said, save this for a harder time, with all of your pennies, nickels and dimes
Count them often, and don't you forget, that some of the best days haven't happened yet

So I'm saving up for a rainy day, putting memories into my piggy bank
When the clouds roll in, and the storm starts to break, I'll sit back with a smile and reflect on those days

There's a few extra dollars in my pocket now, and I have a family granddad would be proud
But it's time, not money, that I treasure most, cause these days go fast and with each my love grows

So I'm saving up for a rainy day, putting memories into my piggy bank
When the clouds roll in, and the storm starts to break, I'll sit back with a smile and reflect on those days
And they'll get me through

I pray I remember every detail of your face
If ever I'm met with a day when I'm all alone and my heart aches

So I'm saving up for a rainy day, putting memories into my piggy bank
When the clouds roll in, and the storm starts to break, I'll sit back with a smile and reflect on those days
Rainy day
