Fog

There wasn't anybody out there
Or, was it just some sleight of hand?
I was up there looking for a surface that was safe enough to land

Something might've happened
All plans have been erased
The embers dead end smolder was the only living trace

Right then I wished to be an echo
Returning into sound
By the light years I've been limited
I've gone too far to turn around now

Bandwidth here is faded
I've lost all ground control
I knew there was no safety net
But I couldn't really comprehend the toll

Now I'm out here wishing on dead stars
Float around here wishing on dead stars

That fog it might've lifted
Sometimes a lucky break
Can be the only difference
Between a great success and a big mistake

But I never did see through it
For long enough to land
I had to keep on flying
Stay the course that the damaged chance commands

But I felt myself go missing
As I passed upon that place
And though it went unspoken
I knew I'd said goodbye to all but Space

Now I'm out here wishing on dead stars
Float around here wishing on dead stars

Now I'm out here wishing on dead stars
Float around here wishing on dead stars
