High Tide

Gazing at the sky
We are running, tumbling
Our fiery steps
Melt our graves into rocks
The greatest killers
To walk this earth
Misusing their gift
To create and observe

We are locked
Into a race to the bottom
We cannot escape
Is the filter approaching?
Are we the first,
Or one of countless experiments
perished in vain

Do we live in a dark forest
hoping our calls reverberate?
A kind of arsonists and liars
Deaf to the screams of those we break

We let our dreams collide
With the foundation we're standing on
Burn the only structure
That keeps us afloat

The engine powering our progression
Is fuelled by its own gears and bolts
Strike the sails a storm is coming
Each day we're straying further from shore

Do we live in a dark forest
hoping our calls reverberate?
A kind of arsonists and liars
Deaf to the screams of those we break
We saw the writings on the wall
We'll perish once and for all

But for what we know
We might live in the only world
In the only world
In the only world
So before we sink
put the fibres to the torch!
Let us change our course
Lest we drown in our high tide

Drown in a high tide!

Drown in a high tide!

Do we live in a dark forest
hoping our calls reverberate?
A kind of arsonists and liars
Deaf to the screams of those we break
